My native language is English. I have lived almost my whole life in Scotland. My other language helps me fill in the many, many gaps left by English. Some time ago, one of you posted in your language something that read "How can I say thank you? These things happened in a place where words have never set foot" (or something like that). I read that and thought "challenge accepted!" We now have those words.
I studied your language intensively from 2020-2022 which means that at my peak, I had the ability to hold a conversation, if the other person speaks slowly. Then, I stopped learning during 2023-2024--you know why. I am revising these days, and soon I will get back to that level. I will not insult you by claiming to be more fluent than I am. I do not have a working proficiency, although I will achieve this at some point, but not this year. Formal in-person situations would require a translator. As always, writing for me is easier than speaking--in any language. It is within my capacity to translate written words. Write to me in your language; I will write to you in mine (for now).
